Priceza, Thailand’s leading shopping search engine, announced 18 winners of the country’s top e-commerce awards through its biggest annual event, “Priceza E-Commerce Awards 2017”, today at Aksra Theater, Bangkok. The results were measured based on its platform with over 10,000 user votes and 55 million shopper clicks since January 2017. Priceza also unveiled the trends of E-Commerce, along with E-Logistics and E-Payment, in an aim to help accelerate Thailand E-Commerce to the next level.

Thanawat Malabuppha, CEO and Co-founder of Priceza, said that the second edition of Priceza E-Commerce Awards goes under the concept of “The Next Episode” to confer prizes that cover various aspects related to e-commerce. In addition, the event also consists panel sessions that discuss on the topics about the upcoming e-commerce, e-logistics, and e-payment trends in 2018.

“Online retailers have been mushrooming over the past few years, which includes small and medium-sized players. Many of them received a very good feedback with high review scores. As the country’s leading shopping search engine, the award is aimed to encourage and support retailers and marketplaces to have a robust growth together. At the same time, the seminar is expected to strengthen operators in the industry to be adaptive in dealing with the changing business environment,” said Mr. Thanawat.

The awards feature three major categories and 10 sub-categories with a total number of 18 prizes. The criteria was derived from this-year-total 55 million shopper clicks on Priceza by Priceza Analytics and its over 10,000 user votes. The questionnaire covered many aspects on online shopping, such as retailers’ reliability, reasonable prices, after sale services, delivery, and attraction of online store. All these criteria are the attributes that meet online shoppers’ demands.

Mr. Thanawat said for the panel sessions, it covers 3 major parts in e-commerce landscape: 1. e-Commerce and the future of retail in 2018 2. e-Logistics and trends to follow 3. e-Payment – The Present and The Future.
Trends and updates will be delivered by industry gurus and experts, namely Siwat Chawareewong, CEO at GroupM, Parin Songpracha, CEO of Nasket Retail Co, Yoji Hamanishi, Managing Director of SCG Yamoto Express, Somkid Jiranuntarat, President of Kasikorn Business–Technology Group (KBTG) and Supphavit Hongamornsin, Country Product Manager of Airpay (Thailand) Co.

“Presently, Thai online shoppers account for 32% (12.1 million) of total internet users. Thailand’s internet penetration stands at 55% of Thai population or 38 million users. We expect that the number of online shopping is likely to increase significantly, thanks to the support of our government policy’s Thailand 4.0, the rise of fintech emerged from banking and financial industry, as well as the advent of logistic technology. They will drive e-commerce growth continuously,” said Mr. Thanawat.

Priceza estimates that its users will grow by 50% or reach 125 million sessions this year and will continue at a consistent pace of 50% (188 million sessions) next year. The growth is in line with the country’s solid foundation of infrastructure, legislation and technology that improved a better online shopping environment. The company projects that there will be around 18 million users on average monthly through its platform within next year.

Mr.Thanawat said from the statistics of 125 million sessions on Priceza this year, the most popular category went to clothing and fashion, followed by Computer/IT and mobile devices, electronic devices and Automobile & accessories.

“Although 70% of our users access our Priceza platform through their smartphone, we found that the average basket size from smartphone was 1,177 baht per order, while the average basket size from PC was around 2,008 baht per order. This result showed that Thai shoppers are likely to purchase high-price products through their PC,” said Mr.Thanawat.
Priceza was founded in 2010 by three young engineers graduated from Chulalongkorn university, including Mr. Thanawat. They foresaw a room for the e-commerce industry to grow. They applied their technological expertise to create a price aggregated platform for online shoppers.

Currently, Priceza is available both on website (www.priceza.com) and mobile application across 6 Southeast Asian markets in Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam, Singapore and the Philippines, with more than 1.2 million registered members and 12 million users on monthly average in Thailand.
