Spark “Future of Food” with

World’s Only Innovative Facility for Alternative Protein

Israeli FoodTech Company “Flying Spark” Leads Mission to Feed the World Without Consuming the Earth

Flying Spark, a FoodTech company that is listed on Israel’s stock exchange, has now sparked a “better food future” in Thailand by offering the world’s most sustainable protein. Backed by its high-flying technology, its protein production enables saving 99% of water & land compared to traditional livestock farming, with zero methane gas emission and just minimal waste. Better still, its products offer best-in-class nutritional value.

Mr. Eran Gronich, Founder & CEO of Flying Spark, says his company has seriously developed food technologies throughout the past many years for the mission of “Feeding the World without Consuming the Earth”. Integrating the cultivation of fruit fly larvae in a closed system, its innovation is now set to create a lasting win-win situation for not just mankind but also the planet.

“We are now ready with the grand opening of our first production facility in Thailand’s Phetchaburi province to serve the world’s most sustainable protein to various industries including aquaculture and pet-food market,” the top executive says, “We will also be providing oil for the manufacturing of cosmetics and nutraceuticals”.

With the vision and readiness of Flying Spark’s technology,Thai Union Group, the world’s seafood leader has decided to be one of the strategic investors to elevate this sustainable protein to greater heights. The product from Flying Spark is extremely rich in minerals, vitamins, good fatty acids and dietary fibers, with no cholesterol. Other strategic investors of Flying Spark include Strauss Group, which ranks among Israel’s largest food manufacturers, and Japan’s giant Sumitomo Chemical.

With the ability to produce protein in an amount equivalent to 300 and 400 kilograms of beef in just one square meter every month, Flying Spark is scheduled to start its production later this year. The grand opening of its first factory – which is also one-of-its-kind in the world – took place in Thailand’s Phetchaburi province on 22 May 2023.

Many prominent figures such as Mr. Thiraphong Chansiri, President & CEO of Thai Union Group, along with top executives, H.E. Ms. Orna Sagiv, ambassador of Israel, the governor of Phetchaburi, the representatives of the Thai Chamber of Commerce, and top officials from various government agencies attended the grand opening event to recognize the key milestone in the food industry.

The 7,000-sqm complex in Phetchaburi province has deployed closed-system full chain EntoFarm in creating the biologically safest, cleanest and most sustainable food, with the help of fruit fly larvae cultivation. Its operations will have no seasonal constraints at all.

Both Israeli and Thai government agencies have shown support for Flying Spark because of its remarkable vision, practical innovations, and the promise of sustainable protein and oil. This FoodTech enterprise plans to apply its innovative products to human food in the near future too. To date, Flying Spark has already made USD 14 million investments in fostering its game-changing business. With the recent opening of its factory, Flying Spark expects to attract many more strategic partners from various industries.

“We are creating the future of food and leading the innovative protein space in Thailand. Our production capacity will be up to 100 tons in 2023, 1,000 tons in 2024, and up to 10,000 tons in 2027 with Asia-Pacific as our key market,” Mr. Gronich said.

In line with the production-capacity increase, Flying Spark will also expand its product portfolio beyond pet food to human food, aquaculture food and skincare. At present, this FoodTech enterprise has been in the stage of business discussions with not only several pet-food manufacturers / retailers but also leading cosmetics brands.
