เอสซีจีมอบทุนการศึกษาแก่นักเรียน นักศึกษา 270 คน
เอสซีจีกลุ่มชั้นนำในภูมิภาคอาเซียนได้มอบทุนการศึกษาแก่นักเรียนระดับชั้นมัธยมศึกษาตอนปลายและนักศึกษาระดับปริญญาตรีทั้งสิ้น 270 คน ทำให้ใน 9 ปีที่ผ่านมา มีผู้ได้รับทุนการศึกษาจากกลุ่มตามโครงการเพื่อสังคมด้านการศึกษาไปแล้วมากกว่า 1,500 คน
จำนวน 270 ทุนนี้แบ่งออกเป็นทุนที่มอบให้นักเรียนชั้นมัธยมศึกษาตอนปลายจำนวน 250 ทุน และเป็นทุนที่มอบให้แก่นิสิตนักศึกษาในระดับชั้นปริญญาตรีจำนวน 20 ทุน
นายรัชต์ยุตม์ เกษมชัยศิริ Country Director เอสซีจี กัมพูชา กล่าวว่าการศึกษานั้นถือเป็นหนึ่งใน 3 ด้านสำคัญที่เอสซีจีมุ่งเน้นในโครงการรับผิดชอบต่อสังคม โดยอีก 2 ด้านคือด้านสุขภาพและด้านสิ่งแวดล้อม
นายรัชต์ยุตม์ เกษมชัยศิริ กล่าวว่า “ที่เอสซีจี เราได้มุ่งมั่นกับการพัฒนาคุณภาพชีวิตของทุกคนในประเทศที่เราดำเนินธุรกิจอยู่ และการส่งเสริมด้านการศึกษาเป็นปัจจัยหลักเพื่อบรรลุจุดประสงค์นี้ได้ ดังนั้นเราเชื่อว่าการสนับสนุนเงินทุนจะทำให้นักเรียนทุนฯ สามารถตั้งใจศึกษาได้อย่างสบายใจโดยไม่ต้องกังวลเรื่องทุนทรัพย์ และเราหวังว่าโครงการ Sharing the Dream นี้จะช่วยผลักดันให้นักเรียนทุนฯ สามารถทำฝันให้เป็นจริงได้”
พิธีมอบทุนการศึกษานี้จัดขึ้นโดยมี H.E. Som Rattana ปลัดกระทรวงศึกษาธิการ เยาวชน และกีฬาของกัมพูชา และนายเชิดเกียรติ อัตถากร เอกอัครราชทูตไทยประจำประเทศกัมพูชาร่วมเป็นประธานในพิธี
H.E. Som Rattana กล่าวว่าเอกชนอย่างเอสซีจีได้มีส่วนสำคัญมากในการส่งเสริมและสนับสนุนรัฐบาลกัมพูชาในด้านการศึกษา
“การมอบทุนการศึกษาแก่นักเรียน นักศึกษาเพื่อช่วยสานฝันให้ทุกคนนั้นสำคัญมาก บางคนอาจมีความฝันต่างๆ แต่ขาดปัจจัยที่จะสานต่อความฝันนั้นๆ ให้เป็นจริงได้ ดังนั้นการช่วยทำให้ฝันของพวกเขาเป็นจริงนั้นจึงสำคัญมากต่อพวกเราทุกคน”
ด้านนายเชิดเกียรติ อัตถากร เอกอัครราชทูตไทยประจำประเทศกัมพูชาได้กล่าวอวยพรให้นักเรียนทุนฯ ประสบความสำเร็จในการศึกษาด้วยการสนับสนุนจากเอสซีจี
นายชูเกียรติกล่าวว่า “นอกจากการศึกษาจะเป็นประตูสู่โอกาสต่างๆ สำหรับนักเรียน นักศึกษาแล้ว การศึกษายังถือเป็นการรักษาความสงบและความรุ่งเรืองของประเทศด้วย ประเทศกัมพูชาเองเต็มไปด้วยกลุ่มคนรุ่นใหม่ที่มีความสามารถและศักยภาพ ซึ่งต้องการความเอาใจใส่และจะกลายเป็นแรงขับเคลื่อนอนาคตที่สำคัญของประเทศต่อไป”
นาย Khom Keo นักเรียนทุนฯ ซึ่งปัจจุบันเป็นนักศึกษาชั้นปีที่ 4 จากมหาวิทยาลัยวิทยาการสุขภาพ ได้กล่าวแสดงความยินดีหลังจากได้รับทุนสนับสนุนนี้ว่า “ผมมีความสุขมากเพราะว่าโครงการนี้ได้ช่วยสนับสนุนนักเรียนชั้นมัธยมปลายที่ยากจน และยังคงให้การสนับสนุนต่อในระดับมหาวิทยาลัยด้วย ดังนั้นจึงช่วยให้คนที่ขาดกำลังทรัพย์แต่มีความฝัน ได้สานต่อความฝันและสร้างอนาคตของตนเองได้”
โครงการ SCG Sharing the Dream เริ่มจัดตั้งขึ้นในปีพ.ศ.2557 เป็นโครงการที่มอบทุนการศึกษาแก่นักเรียนที่มีผลการเรียนดี มีความมุ่งมั่นที่จะศึกษาต่อ และต้องการเงินทุนสนับสนุน รวมทั้งมีความห่วงใย ใส่ใจสังคมและเคารพญาติผู้ใหญ่ด้วย
SCG Offers Scholarships to 270 high school and university students
SCG, a leading business conglomerate in the ASEAN region, has handed scholarships to 270 high school and university students, bringing the total number of scholars from the group’s educational CSR program to more than 1,500 after nine years.
Among the 270 scholarship packages, 250 are given to high school students while the other 20 packages are given to students who are pursuing their studies at the universities.
Mr. Ratchayut Kasemchaisiri, SCG Cambodia’s Country Director, said education has been considered as one of three areas of focus for SCG’s corporate responsibilities – the other two being healthcare & well-being and the environment.
“At SCG, we are committed to improving the quality of life of people in the countries where we operate. And supporting education is key to achieve this objective. So, we believe that our financial support for these scholars will give them the peace of mind that they will be able to pursue their studies without having to worry about financial burden. And we hope that through this Sharing the Dream campaign, the scholars will be able to realize their dreams in the future,” said Mr. Ratchayut Kasemchaisiri.
Awarding ceremony was presided over by Cambodia’s Undersecretary of State of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports, H.E. Som Rattana and Thailand’s Ambassador to Cambodia, H.E. Cherdkiat Atthakor.
H.E. Som Rattana said private companies like SCG are playing very significant roles in supporting the government’s education efforts in Cambodia.
“Awarding scholarships to these students for them to achieve their dreams is really important. Some may have dreams but the lack the means to realize their dreams. That is why helping ones to achieve their dreams is really important for us all,” said H.E. Som Rattana.
Thailand’s Ambassador to Cambodia, H.E. Cherdkiat Atthakor wished the scholars to do well with their studies with the support from SCG.
“Education is not only open doors of opportunities for individuals but also for sustained peace and prosperity in the country. Cambodia has a great number of talented and potential members of this young generation who need to be nurtured and become a driving force for future of this country,” said H.E. Cherdkiat Atthakor.
Khom Keo, one of the scholars who is in his year four at the University of Health Science, has expressed his delight after receiving the scholarship support.
“I’m so happy with this program because, first, it helps support poor high school students and it does not end there. And second, it does not give up those students but continue to help them when they pursue their studies at the universities. So, it helps those who have the dream but lack the means to pursue their studies so that they can realize their dreams and build their future,” said Khom Keo.
SCG Sharing the Dream was launched in 2014 and the program gives scholarships to students who perform well at schools, who are keen to pursue their higher education and need financial support to achieve this dream, who care about their communities and who respect parents and senior people.
